Pre-ACT Information for Freshman Parents

Dear Freshman Parents/Guardians,

As a partner in your child’s education, we are pleased to announce the freshmen will be taking the PreACT on Wednesday, October 10th. This is a paper-based test patterned after the ACT, using the same types of test questions, same score scale, and same format. It will be an outstanding practice opportunity for the ACT as well as provide excellent information for our students, parents, and faculty.
There are four tests on the PreACT:  English, math, reading, and science. PreACT scores and predicted ACT score ranges for composite and subject tests will be reported. Students will complete an Interest Inventory which will help students explore college majors and career options and start planning for their future.

Key benefits for parents:
  • Understand student’s potential performance on the ACT
  • Understand general academic strengths and weaknesses
  • Understand if student’s interests and career goals are aligned with their academic
  • performance
  • Helps inform conversations about academics, interests, college, and career choices
We will complete the Interest Inventory and student information portion during English class on Tuesday, October 9th. Please make sure your student will be present. Students will be allowed to wear relaxed dress on Wednesday. Please bring two #2 pencils and a calculator - calculators will not be provided. Students are welcome to bring a healthy snack on testing day.

As a reminder, students will be dismissed between 11:00-11:30 after the test has been completed. Please be on time for the test. There will be NO MAKE UP exams.
