Ava Sorensen stands to the right of the portrait she drew of Greer Boedeker and the one her friend (Emalie Mullane) drew of her.

Art Class Portrait Project

The Upper School Art class portraits started as a study of the artist Chuck Close. Students learned how to grid a photo that they took with their phones or Chromebooks. Students were required to take a close up photo of themselves or a friend using exaggerated expression. They then enlarged the grid onto paper and followed the grid on the photo to find correct proportions and value. This was a fun study of creating character or emotion, value, and proportions.
