Headmaster's Letter - May 18

Dear Cascia Hall Community,

We have come to the end of another academic year, one of the strangest in my lifetime. Yet paradoxically, I feel a sense of profound gratitude and thanksgiving overall. I’m very grateful to our entire Cascia Hall community for your support, flexibility, and patience during this time.  We’ve all had to make difficult decisions for our families and school, and we’ve had to sacrifice much for the greater good of our city and our health.  I wish to thank especially our faculty and staff who have done a tremendous job this quarter in continuing to provide quality instruction.  I thank all our students and their parents for staying engaged and motivated throughout a very trying (and somewhat alienating) process of learning. It has worked remarkably well. I am grateful to our seniors who have born much of this sacrifice with good humor and patience. Thank you all for your generosity in our food drive and helping others in need.
Activities this summer are largely predicated upon the evolving conditions in the city and the regular updates from the health department regarding numbers permitted in a public gathering and social distancing.  Summer camps here at Cascia have been canceled for June. In mid-June, we will be reassessing our status for July as new information becomes available.

Summer hours for all offices on campus have changed from previous years.  Please note starting the week of May 25, all offices will be open from 7:30 am -1:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.  On Fridays during the summer, offices will be closed.

We are still committed to a regular start to the new year in August. Classes begin August 19. We are prepared, however, for contingencies should conditions require us to 1) postpone the start of school for some weeks or 2) start with distance learning in August or 3) start on campus but with some form of required social distancing in place.  God willing, we will have moved past any initial resurgence or a spike in new cases in Tulsa county by the fall.  We are consulting with medical personnel as we move forward and procuring equipment for sanitizing our building according to the new standards and ensuring the health of our community.

Please be attentive to all communications from the school over the summer as things change regularly and rapidly.  I hope you all have a good summer, enjoy the outdoors or maybe travel as conditions allow, and especially rest and relax with family and friends.

Peace,

Fr. Philip Cook, O.S.A., Ph.D.
