Our Process

Changes Already Realized

A number of curriculum changes have already been implemented:

List of 3 items.

  • Faculty PD by subcommittees (motivation, controversial topics, HW, assessment)

Throughout the Curriculum Development process, subcommittees have presented findings and provided professional development for faculty colleagues.  These PD workshops have covered a wide range of topics, including Student Belonging, Student Motivation, Best Homework Practices, Reimagining Assessment, and Our Mission and Identity.
  • New Classes

In response to extensive discussion and research on cross-curricular teaching, and in an effort to enhance student learning with relevant courses, a number of new classes are now offered.  These classes include the following:

    • African Experience
    • Financial Literacy
    • Statistics
    • Art History
    • Native American History (beginning in 25-26 school year)
    • Mock Trial
    • Creative Writing
    • Bible and Pop Culture
    • Liturgical Theology
    • US History II & Gov/OK History is now 2 separate classes:  OK History and Intro to Gov
    • US History III/IV & Gov is now US History
  • Report Cards

The report card was assessed both for format and content.  Finding that the Work Habits ratings of N, S, and E were not particularly helpful for parents, students or teachers, new categories for High School Readiness (Middle School) or College Readiness (Upper School) were developed to indicate readiness in 3 non-academic areas: Communication, Perseverance, and Organization.  These categories were implemented for the 2025-2026 academic year.  Prior to implementation, teachers spent time developing the expectations for each level of the ratings.

The formatting of the report was changed to add a key, explaining the expectations for the categories and levels of the readiness standards.

Goals Moving Forward

Moving forward, there are many goals yet to be realized in this Curriculum Development process.  We look forward with excitement to the time when we will implement the new schedule, give students more flexible time for learning time management with our G.U.I.D.E. and S.O.L.O. programs, encourage and train faculty on updated assessment best practices for intentional and effective assessment, and continue to strive to meet the mission and identity of Cascia Hall.
