A Message from the Green Team

We hope Cascia's community is doing well during such a trying time- however, there's been some new developments that provide us with a different perspective on the globe's current state of affairs.
The attached pictures exemplify just how much the earth is healing now that human activity has subsided ever so slightly. Whilst this not at all negates the suffering the virus has caused, one cannot deny the perspective it provides us with. Trash-filled oceans and smog-heavy skies are not the earth's natural state, and many places around the world are vastly improving thanks to people not consistently wasting so many of our natural resources. We're watching our earth heal itself from the damage we caused, but such effects will be reversed if we return to the status quo after quarantine. This doesn't at all, in any shape or form, make the virus a positive thing, but it does allow us to acknowledge the impact we have--how our actions may directly correlate to how our environment develops or how healthy our community is. We're being shown that our decisions impact God's own earth, and he's giving us the opportunity to both recognize that and properly do something about it.

Our goal should be to safeguard the beautiful creation around us that God himself made for us--fighting over resources and haphazardly wasting them isn't appreciating our God-given gift that is the Earth. We are called to be stewards to both ourselves, those around us, and the land we walk upon. Though it is much to ask during this trying time, treat your neighbors and the earth with the respect you yourself would want to be given. And, even when this period of difficulty is over, be mindful of the waste you leave behind you for others to pick up.

As we are made in the likeness of God, we should reflect such through our treatment of his creation around us, treating all with bountiful kindness just as he does. Both during and after quarantine, focus on keeping the world beautiful, just as God intended it to be. And though that may take a little extra time or effort, remember that Jesus said the path of stewardship wasn't always the easiest one. We cannot be truly thankful for God's gift of nature if we do not cherish it. We're aware this is a lot to ask, but now is the time to acknowledge the difference YOU can make, whether that be helping stop the virus from spreading or making an effort to be more environmentally conscious; both issues are massively affecting all of God's creation, and it's every individual's duty to do their part in hindering problems such as these.

This is unarguably a devastating and sorrowful time for the world's people, and our condolences go out to all affected, whether it be directly or indirectly. Remember to maintain a positive mindset, as this will only last for so long and we'll get through it together, as a community. Above all, let's pray for our community's safety as we all traverse this desperate era together. Please stay healthy, mindful, and cautious.
