ARTS, KEYBOARDING, & WELLNESS CAMPS

Mari Schloss, Upper School Guidance Counselor

Adolescence is a crucial period for developing social and
emotional habits important for mental well-being. These include
adopting healthy sleep patterns; exercising regularly; developing
coping, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; and learning to
manage emotions.  Topics such as stress management, relaxation
techniques, normal emotional variations, sleep hygiene, self-
esteem, autonomy, making decisions, and recognizing personal
limits will be covered.  I want your child to leave with essential life
skills to help them navigate school and beyond.

June 17 - 20
9:00 am - 11:00 am
Entering Grades 6 - 12
Location: Study Hall Room Basement
Cost: $125

Ashley Wood, Upper School English Teacher

The early focus in the course is on the review of the basics, including parts of speech and basic sentences, but we spend much time practicing writing paragraphs and perhaps longer pieces with sentences that include the more advanced structures (participial phrases, relative clauses, semicolons, etc.). We will write about the summer reading novel to encourage comprehension, and I emphasize rules like underlining book titles and correctly using words that are often confused (to/too, affect/effect, your/you’re, etc.) throughout the review course.
